The Austin Django Project is an Austin-based jazz collective led by guitarist Jamey Cummins, celebrating the music and legacy of Django Reinhardt. With a changing lineup of accomplished local musicians, the group draws from the guitar-driven swing, expressive improvisation and acoustic sound associated with 1930s and ’40s Gypsy jazz.
Built around guitars and strings, with instrumentation that can also include violin, clarinet and upright bass, Austin Django Project brings Reinhardt’s repertoire to life while leaving plenty of room for the spontaneous interplay at the heart
