Francis McGrath is a Central Texas pianist and composer whose performances blend jazz, fusion, and poetic storytelling. A lifelong musician and wordsmith, he’s known for his expressive touch on piano and synthesizer, and his ability to move seamlessly between lyrical jazz ballads and dynamic, rhythm-driven fusion.
McGrath has released two self-produced albums, No Less Days and Trains in the Night, and composed the award-winning soundtrack for the film Station to Station (2022). A familiar face in the Austin music scene, he has played with numerous ensembles—including The Greatest American Heroes—and continues to collaborate with artists across the region.
Offstage, McGrath is also a published poet (Diverse-City Journal, Austin International Poetry Festival) and a two-time “Punniest of Show” winner at the O. Henry Pun-Off. His performances invite listeners into an imaginative world where words, rhythm, and melody share the same heartbeat.
