He’ll grab a bass without hesitation\, blow a little “trash harp” in the spirit of Dylan or Young\, and he’s no stranger to the piano either. \nBeyond the stage\, Jake is a true working-class renaissance man: journeyman electrician\, pretend carpenter\, amateur plumber\, occasional house painter\, stubborn DIYer\, wannabe photographer and filmmaker\, non-recipe-following chef\, and a world-class professional procrastinator. But through it all\, music has remained the constant driving force in his life. \nRaised on a steady diet of the great American troubadours\, Jake grew up absorbing the songs and storytelling of artists who blurred the lines between country\, folk\, rock & roll\, and roots music. That influence shows in his own writing\, where honest lyrics\, lived-in melodies\, and road-worn charm take center stage. \n“I feel like my music is American roots music all lumped together with a little of this and a little of that\,” Jake says. “That’s why I’ve always leaned toward calling it Americana. To me\, it’s just an amalgamation of country\, folk\, and rock and roll\, with a little bluegrass sprinkled in.” \nWhether performing solo or swapping songs with friends\, Jake Waylon brings warmth\, wit\, and a deep respect for the tradition of American songwriting—played straight from the heart\, with no shortcuts and no safety net. \nWes Perryman is an Austin-area singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist rooted in bluegrass\, old-time country\, and Americana. Known for his strong rhythm playing\, harmony vocals\, and understated musicianship\, he’s a familiar presence in Central Texas venues and a frequent collaborator with fellow roots artists\, including Jake Waylon.
